The Presidente Hayes region, located in the Eastern area of Paraguay, is a captivating region with incredible wildlife and natural landscapes. It is known for its lush subtropical forests, lagoons and lakes intertwined by rivers that stem from the Parana River.

Visitors to this area can explore the winding routes of Central Chaco, which were once used by Jesuit missions in the 17th century. The recently declared National Park of Defensores del Chaco offers an incredible view of native fauna including anteaters, jaguars and caimans as well as various birds such as toucans and macaws. A visit to Teniente Enciso's Archeological Site will allow visitors to explore ancestral ruins that date back to pre-Columbian settlements dating from 4500 BC.

Presidente Hayes also offers an interesting array of historical sites for visitors, including Fort Boqueron Museum - a former military fort used during the war against Bolivia - as well as several quaint colonial towns such as Piribebuy where one can find traditional merchandise from local artisans and sample delicious regional cuisine. Finally, one should not miss out on visiting Pampa Grande Ruins near Fuerte Olimpo - remnants from Arawak culture dating back thousands of years ago!
