Visit Apurímac

Apurimac, Peru is a stunningly beautiful region located in the southern part of the country. It boasts spectacular landscapes, including rugged mountains, alpine lakes and lush valleys. Rich in colonial architecture and archaeological sites, Apurimac has something for every traveler.

One must-see attraction is the Inca ruins at Pikillaqta, which are some of the best preserved ruins in Peru. Another popular tourist site is Andahuaylillas Church, or "The Sistine Chapel of America," due to its ornate 16th century frescoes and paintings.

In addition to being known for its natural beauty and cultural attractions, Apurimac was also an important region during Incan times. In fact, one of their most famous emperors was born here - Pachacutec (1438-1471). He implemented numerous reforms that helped shape the Incan Empire into what it eventually became - a powerful political entity that extended over much of South America.

Today Apurimac remains an important historical destination for travelers who are looking to immerse themselves in Peruvian culture and learn more about its fascinating past.
