Visit Cajamarca

Cajamarca is a city located in northern Peru, known for its rich colonial architecture and vibrant culture. It is filled with baroque churches, plazas, and cobblestone streets. One of the must-see attractions in Cajamarca is the Ventanillas de Otuzco archaeological site - an ancient pre-Inca burial ground with dozens of underground tombs and figurines carved into the rock walls. The Plaza de Armas is another popular tourist spot - a beautiful square surrounded by ornate buildings including the Basilica Cathedral and Government Palace.

History buffs will not want to miss the Ransom Room where Inca Atahualpa was held captive by Francisco Pizarro before he was executed in 1533. This room now serves as a museum that houses artifacts from Spanish Colonial times. Visitors can also explore La Compania Church, where they can marvel at its intricate Baroque design or attend Sunday Mass to experience Peruvian culture up close.
