Cotabato

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao is a region located in the southern Philippines. It consists of five provinces: Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. It has a rich cultural history and is home to a diverse population of Muslims and other ethnic groups.

The region offers visitors an array of activities from exploring its stunning landscapes to learning about its unique culture. One popular tourist destination is Lake Dapao in Palawan, where visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing or boating around the lake's crystal clear waters. The Subanen Museum in Zamboanga City provides a great insight into the livelihoods of the Subanen people who inhabit this area of Mindanao.

An interesting fact about Bangsamoro is that it was once part of the Sultanate of Sulu which ruled over much of what is now known as Mindanao until 1876 when it was dissolved by Spain as part of their colonization efforts. Today this autonomous region seeks to preserve its distinctive culture while strengthening ties with other regions within the Philippines.
