Visit Caraga

Caraga is a region in the Philippines located on the northeastern part of Mindanao. It is composed of five provinces: Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.

Caraga is home to numerous tourist attractions and activities. In Siargao Island, visitors can enjoy surfing in some of the best waves in the world or take a dip at the famed Magpupungko Rock Pool. For history buffs, visiting Enchanted River and Sohoton Caves in Hinatuan will give them an insight into Caraga's rich cultural heritage.

Aside from its natural and historical attractions, Caraga also has some interesting facts about its history. From 1598 to 1800s it was part of a bigger district called Caraga which was formerly known as "Koronadal" by Spanish colonizers. The name "Caraga" comes from two words: "Cara-ag" which means river of gold due to its abundant gold deposits found during that time period; while "Ga" refers to an old ethnic group living near these deposits.
