Visit Zamboanga Peninsula

The Zamboanga Peninsula is a region in the western part of the Philippines, located on the island of Mindanao. It is composed of three provinces - Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay. Its capital city is Pagadian City.

The region offers a unique experience with its exotic blend of cultural influences from Spanish, Chinese, Filipino and indigenous people's customs. A must-see tourist destination in the area would be Sta Cruz Island, renowned for its beachfront resorts and white sand beaches. For a taste of history check out Fort Pilar in the city of Zamboanga where it served as a key defense point against pirates and foreign enemies since 1635.

Another popular attraction worth visiting would be Jamul Falls in Sibuco municipality where visitors can take dip in its clear blue pools or view some stunning waterfalls cascading down into deep ravines.

Historically speaking, during WW II Japanese Imperial forces occupied parts of Western Mindanao including areas within the peninsula for one year until American troops together with Filipino guerrilla forces managed to establish control over them again in 1945 thus liberating local communities from foreign occupation.
