Visit Pomeranian Voivodeship

The Pomeranian Voivodeship is a province located in the northern part of Poland. It is bordered by the Baltic Sea and is known for its beautiful sandy beaches and picturesque coastal towns. The capital city, Gdansk, overlooks the Bay of Gdansk and is home to a variety of attractions such as the impressive St Mary's Church, Europe's largest brick-built church.

Two popular places to visit are Malbork Castle and Westerplatte Monument. The Malbork Castle was built in 1274 by Teutonic Knights and has since been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Westerplatte Monument marks the site where World War II began on 1 September 1939 when German troops attacked Westerplatte Peninsula near Gdansk.

Pomeranian Voivodeship also has some interesting historical facts; it was one of five provinces established after 1945 when Poland regained its independence from Germany after World War II. This region also saw significant events during Solidarity movement which eventually led to fall of communism throughout Eastern Europe in 1989-90s.
