Visit Silesian Voivodeship


The Silesian Voivodeship of Poland is located in the southern part of the country and is known for its mining and industrial heritage. The region is rich in culture, with picturesque villages, castles, and monuments that date back to medieval times.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Silesian Voivodeship is Auschwitz-Birkenau, a former Nazi concentration camp which serves as a reminder of one of the darkest chapters in world history. Also worth visiting is Ostrow Tumski (Cathedral Island), located on an island at the center of Wroclaw's Old Town where visitors will find cathedrals dating back to 10th century as well as other historic churches.

An interesting historical fact about this region is that it was once part of Czechoslovakia between 1918 and 1945 before being annexed by Poland after World War II.
