Alfama is a historic district in Lisbon, Portugal, known for its narrow, winding streets and colorful buildings. This charming neighborhood is the oldest in the city, dating back to the Moorish occupation of Lisbon. It’s a vibrant area with a rich history, where the old meets the new in a unique blend of cultures. Walking through Alfama is like stepping back in time, with its traditional houses, ancient churches, and quaint shops.

One of the must-see attractions in Alfama is the Castelo de Sao Jorge, a Moorish castle offering panoramic views of the city and the Tagus River. Another iconic spot is the Se Cathedral, the oldest church in the city. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the local flea market, Feira da Ladra, where you can find a variety of vintage items and antiques. Alfama is also famous for its Fado music, so make sure to visit a traditional Fado house for an unforgettable experience.

  5. Wander around Alfama’s popular flea market which is held every Tuesday and Saturday where vendors sell a variety of items such as antiques, souvenirs, artworks and much more! Watch out for pick-pocketers during your visit here though!
