Visit Saint-Benoît

The Saint-Benoit region of Reunion is a haven for nature lovers. Located in the east of the country, it has lush tropical forests, cascading waterfalls and inviting trails for hikers and bikers alike. The area is home to some of Reunion's best beaches, with La Saline Les Bains Beach among the most popular spots. Here visitors can take part in activities like windsurfing, jet-skiing or just relax on its golden sands.

For a dose of culture, tourists can visit Notre Dame de la Nativite Church in Saint Benoit Village. Built in 1858 and declared an historic monument, the church displays stunning architecture that also houses a library containing ancient manuscripts such as manuscripts by St Augustine from 384 AD!

History buffs should also pay a visit to L'Hermitage l'Unite where they will find ruins of sugarcane plantations dating back to 1822 when slavery was abolished on Reunion Island. The site features sculptures depicting scenes from those times and remains an important reminder of an unfortunate part of history that shaped Reunion Island today.
