Visit Far Eastern

The Far Eastern region of Russia is a vast expanse of land and sea, stretching from the Ural Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. It includes the Chukotka and Kamchatka peninsulas, Sakhalin island and Vladivostok. It is known for its abundance of natural beauty, including rugged mountains, tundra landscapes and untouched forests.

One must-see destination in this area is Lake Baikal - the deepest lake in the world with crystal clear waters that offer a stunning view of Siberia's majestic mountains. The port city of Vladivostok also has much to offer tourists, with its colorful architecture and close proximity to nature reserves like Wrangel Island Nature Reserve.

An interesting historical fact about this region is that during World War II it was part of Japan's eastern most territories; however after the war it became part of Russia again through an agreement between Japan and Russia known as The San Francisco Peace Treaty.
