Visit Northern Province

The Northern Province of Rwanda is a beautiful, mountainous region located in the eastern part of the country. This area is known for its lush green hills and valleys, along with stunning views of Lake Kivu. It also offers access to two national parks - Akagera National Park and Volcano National Park - both home to an abundance of wildlife.

One popular tourist destination is Ruhengeri, a town situated at the base of Mount Karisimbi, which offers incredible scenery and amazing trekking opportunities. Another must-see spot is Gisenyi, a lakeside resort town with fantastic beaches along Lake Kivu where visitors can go swimming or take boat rides.

Apart from its natural beauty, the Northern Province also holds great historical significance as it was once home to some of Rwanda's most important royal dynasties such as those belonging to Ubwami Kings Ruganzu Ndori and Mutara III Rwogera; both were key figures in Rwandan history during their reigns from 1420-1550AD and 1721-1773AD respectively.
