The region is known for its immense natural beauty and traditional Samoan culture. Popular tourist attractions include the historic Lefaga village, which dates back to 1810, and Cape Mulinuu with its picturesque views over Apolima Strait. At Malietoa Fauolo Park near Vailoa you can visit a shrine dedicated to the legendary Samoan hero Malietoa Fauolo who fought alongside warriors from A'ana in a battle against enemy forces in 1580. Other must-see spots are Lalomanu beach with white sand beaches where you can enjoy swimming or snorkeling, and To-Sua Ocean Trench with its crystal clear waters that offer amazing scuba diving opportunities. There are also several cultural sites including Sapapali'i Village which is home to ancient ruins dating back hundreds of years ago as well as an intriguing underwater cave system. For those seeking adventure there are plenty of outdoor activities such as river rafting down Mulifanua River or hiking up Mt Matavanu crater for breathtaking views over Savaii Island on a clear day.
