Masjid al-Haram is located in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is the largest mosque in the world and it surrounds the Kaaba - an ancient stone structure that acts as a focal point for Islamic worship. Inside Masjid al-Haram, visitors will be able to see a stunning display of detailed architecture, with grand pillars and open courtyards. It also includes several ornate minarets which stand above some of its other elements such as Abraj Al Bait towers and Makkah Royal Clock Tower. When visiting Masjid al-Haram, one should not miss out on seeing The Black Stone - an artifact believed to date back thousands of years that sits at one corner of the Kaaba’s wall.

Plan your visit

  1. Get your visa and passport paperwork in order before planning your visit to Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
  2. Plan ahead for the holy month of Ramadan when the mosque is usually crowded with worshippers from around the world.
  3. Book flights, hotels and transportation well in advance as prices jump during peak season from mid-April to mid-June.
  4. Research local customs and dress code for women; modest clothing is a must: no short skirts or tight outfits allowed!
  5. Bring comfortable shoes since you’ll be walking a lot - sneakers are ideal!
  6. Make sure to bring enough cash on hand as credit cards are not widely accepted at many places in Saudi Arabia due to religious restrictions on interest based banking practices . 7 Stock up on supplies like water bottles and snacks before visiting as they may be scarce inside the mosque compound
