Visit Kolda


Kolda is a province in the southernmost region of Senegal. It is bordered by The Gambia to the south and Guinea-Bissau to the southwest, and its capital city is Kolda. This region has a hot, dry climate with long summers and short winters, making it ideal for growing millet, groundnuts, cotton and other crops. A popular tourist destination in this area is the national park of Niokolo-Koba which boasts breathtaking views of nature such as Savannah grasslands and deciduous forests. Additionally, visitors can explore waterfalls and view wildlife like antelopes, elephants, hippos amongst others. Another popular tourist attraction in Kolda is the Island of Karaba - an escarpment renowned for its natural beauty as well as having several historical sites such as ancient tombs that date back over 1000 years ago! An interesting fact about Kolda's history is that it was once part of French West Africa where it served as an important trading port between Europe and Africa during colonial times.
