Visit Port Glaud


Port Glaud is a small town in the Seychelles located on the north-western coast of Mahe Island. It is an area rich with culture and history, from its plantations to the fishing village that still exists today. The town offers stunning beaches, perfect for swimming and snorkeling, as well as incredible views from its mountainous hillsides overlooking the ocean. There are some interesting tourist attractions in Port Glaud worth visiting such as Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve - a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its palm trees and home to some of Seychelles' rarest birds - and Anse Major beach where you can find crystal clear waters perfect for swimming.

An interesting historical fact about Port Glaud is that it was once home to one of the most powerful families on Mahe Island. The Mondon family was responsible for generating much of the island's wealth through copra production during the 19th century. Today, remnants of this heritage can still be found at Port Glaud Plantation House which stands as a symbol of their legacy.
