Sint Maarten is an island in the Caribbean Sea and part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, divided between France and the Netherlands. Located east of Puerto Rico, it's a vibrant destination known for its pristine beaches, friendly locals, and lively nightlife.

There are plenty of fun things to do on Sint Maarten - from water sports such as snorkeling or parasailing to leisurely exploring its many beaches. One popular destination is Simpson Bay Lagoon - situated near Maho Beach and Philipsburg - which has a wide range of watersport activities available. In Philipsburg itself you can enjoy Duty-Free shopping at numerous stores located along Front Street.

The island also has a great history; it was first colonized by Dutch settlers in 1631 who named it after their patron saint Saint Martinus. It eventually became a Dutch territory until 1816 when France took possession of the northern half with Sint Maarten becoming part of the French West Indies until 1954 when it was returned to Dutch control as an autonomous country within the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
