The Makira-Ulawa Province is located in the Solomon Islands archipelago of Melanesia in the South Pacific. It is composed of two islands: Makira and Ulawa, and holds the title of being the largest province in terms of population size. The unique cultural makeup features Polynesian, Melanesian, and Micronesian influences giving it a unique blend that can be seen throughout.

There are various tourist attractions to explore in the Makira-Ulawa Province such as beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters for swimming, fishing and snorkeling or trekking on Mt Popomanaseu which provides stunning views from its peak. Cultural experiences can be had by visiting Bonegi Cultural Village where information about traditional practices can be learned or Nukapu Island known for its native carvings made from local timber.

An interesting historical fact related to this region is that some remains from a extinct species have been discovered here called Megalodon Sharks - believed to have existed between 23 million and 3 million years ago they were one of the largest predators ever existent!
