Visit Bay

The Bay region of Somalia is located in the south-central part of the country and borders Ethiopia, Kenya, and the Somali Sea. The coastal area is known for its abundance of wildlife and rare bird species, such as flamingos. While this region has largely been neglected in terms of development due to political instability, it remains a popular tourist destination because of its stunning natural scenery.

One must-visit tourist attraction is the Xabo Lighthouse near Eyl on Cape Guardafui. Its distinctive red-and-white structure stands out against the cliffside and offers spectacular views during sunsets. The town itself offers an interesting insight into Somali history with ancient ruins from old settlements scattered around.

Another place worth visiting in Bay region is Laas Gaal Webi Cave which contains some of the best preserved and oldest rock paintings ever discovered in Africa; they are thought to be over 10,000 years old! These prehistoric paintings have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for their cultural significance. Finally, an interesting historical fact about this region is that it was one of five independent states that established union before forming modern Somalia after World War II.
