Visit Middle Juba


The Middle Juba region of Somalia is a beautiful area stretching from Gedo to Lower Juba, encompassing the regions of Bakool and Bay. This area was once part of the ancient Kingdom of Punt, which dates back to 600 BC. The Middle Juba region is home to 3 national parks: Kismayo National Park, Dingare Fisheries Reserve, and Jubaland State Park. Tourists can also visit the Sheikh Ahmed Al Madoobe monument near Kismayo or explore the ruins at Taleh where a medieval Islamic walled city stands in tribute to its rich history.

Interesting historical facts about this region include that it was an important commercial center for trading during the Somali Sultanate period between 14th and 17th centuries. Additionally, during World War II British troops passed through this region in their pursuit against Italian forces in East Africa.
