Visit Middle Shebelle


The Middle Shebelle region of Somalia is located in the south-central part of the country. It is bordered by Lower Shabelle, Galguduud, Hiiraan and Banadir regions and contains many important natural resources.

Middle Shebelle has some tourist sites for visitors. One popular spot is Balcad which was once an ancient port city. History buffs can explore its ruins which date back to the 16th century when it was a major trading centre in this part of Africa. Another interesting site to visit would be Jowhar, a small town near the Shabelle River that was occupied by British forces during World War I.

The Middle Shebelle region also has some interesting historical facts related to its past occupants such as Somali Sultans who resided at Adadle before it fell in 1892 or warlords who gained control over various parts of Somalia around 2000s following years-long civil war period..
