Visit Gauteng

Gauteng is the smallest province in South Africa, located in the Highveld region. It is bordered by Free State and North West Province to the south, Limpopo to the north, Mpumalanga to the east and Northwest Province to the west. The province is home to South Africa's largest city and economic hub Johannesburg, as well as Pretoria which serves as its administrative capital.

Gauteng offers plenty of tourist attractions for visitors looking for a unique experience. The Pilanesberg National Park offers a range of unique wildlife encounters while Soweto has an array of history-rich destinations such as Nelson Mandela's House. Other popular tourist spots include Gold Reef City amusement park, Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct and Lesedi Cultural Village.

An interesting fact about Gauteng is that it was previously known as "The Place of Gold" due to its abundance of gold deposits found by European Settlers in 1886. The Witwatersrand gold rush ultimately led to Johannesburg becoming one of world's most dynamic cities today with many cultural attractions including museums, galleries and heritage sites on offer for tourists from all over the world!
