Visit Daegu

Daegu is a vibrant city located in the southeastern region of South Korea. It is the fourth largest city in the country and serves as an important hub for transportation and commerce. Daegu is known for its cultural attractions, shopping districts and landmarks including Duryu Park, Mt. Palgongsan Park and Seomun Market.

One of Daegu's most popular tourist destinations is Duryu Park--a huge public park that has sports facilities, jogging paths, gardens, ponds, sculptures and more. The park also hosts many festivals throughout the year including the Chrysanthemum Festival and Cherry Blossom Festival in April.

The city has a long history dating back to 57 BC when it was first established by King Uija as Gyeongju-Si in what is now North Gyeongsang Province. Today visitors can explore historical sites such as Cheomseongdae Observatory--the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in Asia--which was completed during the Silla Dynasty (57-935 AD).
