Visit Gangwon


Gangwon is a province in South Korea located in the northeastern region of the country. It is bordered by North Korea and its capital city, Chuncheon, is home to over 250,000 people. Gangwon has something for everyone - it is renowned for its mountains and ski resorts as well as its beautiful coastline and beaches. Tourists come here to experience some of South Korea's best hiking trails, ski slopes and mountain views or simply relax on the beach. Popular tourist attractions include Soraksan National Park with its dramatic peaks and valleys, Woljeongsa Temple with its ancient Buddhist temple complex, and Seoraksan National Park known for its incredible rock formations.

Gangwon has a rich history dating back thousands of years; it was once an independent kingdom during the 12th century before becoming part of Unified Silla in 668 CE. Today visitors can explore historical sites such as Ojukheon House which was build in 1530's by a notable Korean scholar-official Yi Gae. With so much to offer it's no wonder why Gangwon is one of South Korea's premier destinations!
