Visit Gwangju

Gwangju is the sixth-largest city in South Korea, located in the province of Jeolla-do. It is known for its vibrant cultural and historical heritage, as well as being a popular tourist destination. The Gwangju National Museum and the Gwangju Biennale are two of the city's top attractions. Visitors can also explore the picturesque Soswaewon Garden, an Joseon Dynasty garden complex with a serene lake and traditional architecture.

Gwangju has a rich history that dates back to 57 BC when it was established by King Suro and named "Gwangu". It served as an important cultural center during Korea's Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897) and became one of South Korea's first cities to embrace democracy following the 1980 Uprising against military rule. Today, visitors can pay tribute to those involved with visits to sites such as Gwangju Democratization Monument Park or May 18th National Cemetery.
