Plaza

Av. Isabel la Católica, 41004 Sevilla, Spain

Plaza de Espana is a stunning monument located in Seville, Spain. It was constructed for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 and stands as a symbol of Spanish culture featuring its distinctive neo-Moorish style. This grand plaza is divided into two sections–the Plaza Altanez, which surrounds a large fountain, and the Plaza de Americas, with its mosaic tiled alcoves representing each Spanish province. Notable architectural features include four ornate bridges spanning the manmade waterway known as the Grande Canal. Visitors must not miss out on seeing the iconic central tower which rises up from behind the fountain’s reflecting pool. Additionally, they can take time to explore the palm tree lined promenades that offer different views of this impressive place.

Plan your visit

  1. Book your tickets in advance - Seville’s Plaza de Espana is an iconic site, so it can be busy during peak times. Avoid disappointment and plan ahead by pre-booking or buying your tickets online.
  2. Pack a picnic - The vast grounds of the plaza make for a wonderful spot to relax with family and friends over a picnic lunch or snack. While there are plenty of eateries around, bringing your own will save you money too!
  3. Wear comfortable shoes - As with any sightseeing trip, wearing good footwear is essential when visiting Plaza de Espana in Seville! The ground is cobbled and uneven in some areas, so prepare accordingly to avoid sore feet later on!
  4. Arrive early - Be sure to get there as early as possible so you can enjoy the sights while beating the crowds that arrive later on in the day - especially during peak tourist season between April-October!
