Discover Elgoibar

Elgoibar is a municipality in the province of Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country of Spain. Located on the slopes of Mt. Oiz, Elgoibar boasts stunning views and a rich history. Once known for its iron ore mining, Elgoibar is now largely focused on agriculture and manufacturing.

As you explore Elgoibar there are two highlights not to miss: the museum Casa de Juntas de Ugarana and its beautiful old town centre. The former is a house museum dedicated to preserving the history of ironworking in Elgoibar from medieval times onwards. It features many exhibits displaying tools used by blacksmiths throughout the centuries as well as interactive activities for kids and adults alike. The old town centre is where you'll find plenty of historical buildings that provide an interesting landscape for photography or just walking around with friends and family.
