Place of worship ~ 3 hours

The Sagrada Familia, located in Barcelona, Spain, is a masterpiece of modernist architecture designed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudi. This basilica, which has been under construction since 1882, is a testament to Gaudi’s unique architectural vision and his deep religious faith. Its intricate facades, inspired by nature and biblical narratives, and its towering spires that seem to reach for the heavens, are a sight to behold.

Visitors to the Sagrada Familia can explore the stunning interior, which is designed to resemble a forest with its tree-like columns and intricate stained glass windows that bathe the space in a kaleidoscope of colors. One of the highlights is the Nativity Facade, which depicts scenes from the birth of Jesus. Another must-see is the museum located in the basilica’s basement, where you can learn more about Gaudi’s life, his architectural techniques, and the ongoing construction of this iconic building.

Plan your visit

When visiting Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, it is best to plan ahead. Book tickets online to avoid the long lines at the ticket booths. Make sure that you arrive early as there are plenty of queues to enter and climb up the towers. Bring sunscreen and bottled water if touring during hot days since there is no shade inside. Wear comfortable shoes as much of the interior can only be accessed on foot or through ladders/stairs. Avoid bringing large pieces of luggage; most backpacks have to be checked in before entering so smart packing is essential here! Lastly, take advantage of audio guides available for a more enriching experience plus free Wi-Fi for all visitors!
