The Western Province of Sri Lanka is one of the most diverse and beautiful parts of the country. It consists of six districts, including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam and Kurunegala. The province is home to many stunning beaches, cultural monuments, wildlife parks and historical sites.

A popular tourist destination in the Western Province is Galle Fort. This ancient fort was built by the Portuguese in 1588 and later expanded by the Dutch in 1663. Today it remains as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its well-preserved buildings from colonial times providing an interesting insight into Sri Lanka's past. Another popular spot for visitors is Bentota beach which offers tranquil shorelines for swimming and boating activities as well as numerous resorts for those looking to relax on their visit.

The Western Province also has some fascinating history to explore; it was once part of the ancient Kingdom of Kotte during the 15th century when various dynasties ruled over different areas within modern day Sri Lanka until its fall in 1597 after an invasion from South India!
