Visit Eastern Switzerland

Eastern Switzerland is a scenic and culturally unique region in the heart of Europe. It provides an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts, with breathtaking views of the Alps, unspoiled towns nestled in lush valleys and plenty of opportunities for skiing, cycling and hiking. The area also boasts some of Switzerland's most famous attractions such as the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen and St. Gallen's Abbey Library which houses one of the world's oldest book collections dating back to the 8th century AD.

The cities in Eastern Switzerland offer a wealth of cultural activities such as museums, art galleries and operas at Zurich's well-known music venue Opernhaus Zurich. Foodies will be spoilt for choice with local dishes from cheese fondue to Rosti (a classic Swiss potato pancake) on offer throughout the region.

One interesting fact about Eastern Switzerland is that it was home to some key events during World War II including an unsuccessful assassination attempt by allied forces on Adolf Hitler's envoy Hermann Goring at Appenzell in 1944. Today visitors can still explore these sites along with many others across this captivating part of Europe.
