Visit Dimashq

The Dimashq region is a province of Syria located in the south western part of the country. It contains the capital and largest city in Syria, Damascus, which has an ancient history going back over 5,000 years. The area is characterized by its varied geography including mountains, plains and deserts.

As for tourist attractions, you can visit one of the oldest mosques in Damascus called Umayyad Mosque with its impressive architecture. Also worth visiting is Mount Qassioun that overlooks Damascus from a height of 1,100 meters with breathtaking views across the cityscape and countryside beyond.

On a historical note, it was at Dimashq where St Paul converted to Christianity at Damascus Gate sometime after 32CE on his way to Arabia from Jerusalem during what Christians refer to as "The Road To Damascus" incident.
