Visit Chiayi County


Chiayi County is a county in southwestern Taiwan, located between the cities of Tainan and Kaoshiung. It is one of the most populous counties in Taiwan with an approximate population of 544 thousand. Chiayi County is home to many tourist attractions and cultural landmarks such as Alishan National Scenic Area, where visitors can explore pristine mountain forests and take in stunning views from mountain peaks. There are also numerous temples to explore including Lukang Longshan Temple, built in 1786 during the Qing Dynasty. Another interesting historical landmark is Chiayi Old Prison which was constructed in 1881 by Japanese colonists and served as a prison until 1997 when it was declared a historical site.

No trip to Chiayi County would be complete without visiting the National Chimei Museum. Inside this museum there are 10 permanent exhibition halls featuring unique collections from around the world including musical instruments, ceramics, calligraphy works, clothing and more.

Nature lovers should also pay a visit to Aogu Wetlands which covers an area of over 47 acres and offers trails for hikers along with bird watching opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts!
