Visit Lienchiang

The Lienchiang region of Taiwan is a small province located in the western part of the island. It consists of two main islands, Matsu and Kinmen, which are connected by bridges and flights. The area is known for its stunning scenery with picturesque coastlines, lush green hills, and quaint fishing villages.

One popular tourist attraction in Lienchiang is Matsu National Scenic Area. This scenic area encompasses several smaller islands that offer visitors a glimpse into traditional Taiwanese culture and natural beauty. Visitors can explore temples, discover quaint fishing villages, and take part in activities such as hiking or cycling around the islands. Another major destination in Lienchiang is Juguang Tower which was built during the Chinese Civil War to defend against an invasion from mainland China. This tower has since been restored to its former glory and today stands as a symbol of peaceful relations between Taiwan and mainland China.

An interesting historical fact about Lienchiang relates to Kinmen Island which was fought over by both sides during the Chinese Civil War for more than 40 years until 1992 when it was finally declared an official free economic zone by both sides of hostilities in order to promote peace between Taiwan and mainland China
