Visit Taichung County


Taichung County is a county in Taiwan located in the west-central part of the island. It is one of the eight counties that make up the nation and spans an area of 1725.24 km2 on land. The county's population is approximately 2.6 million people and it has a prosperous economy, making it an important region for business and commerce.

The county's rich culture can be explored through its many tourist sites, such as the National Museum of Natural Science, located in North District, Taichung City; or Fong Jia Night Market in Fengyuan District which offers delicious local snacks and street entertainment year round. Other attractions include Shao Shang Temple, situated near Chung Gang Road where visitors can learn about traditional Chinese religion; or Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage Festival held every April which celebrates Mazu - China's sea goddess - with an incredible parade that showcases Taiwanese culture and history.

A historical fact about Taichung County includes its role during WWII when it was used by Japan to store ammunition for their military forces until 1945 when troops were evacuated from Taiwan at the end of war. Today this region remains one of Taiwan's most important districts with its strong economic growth still attracting many locals and tourists each year for sightseeing, shopping, cultural exploration or simply enjoying its beautiful mountain views!
