Visit Tainan County

Tainan County is located in southwestern Taiwan and is the oldest city in the country. It is a popular tourist destination for its many cultural and historical attractions, such as Chihkan Tower, an iconic 17th century structure that houses the remains of Fort Provintia, built by the Dutch East India Company during their occupation of Taiwan. Other places of interest include Anping Tree House, a rare example of traditional architecture set among lush foliage; and Guanziling Hot Springs Park, home to numerous hot springs and natural pools surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.

History buffs will enjoy learning about Tainan's impressive past - it was once known as 'Taiwanfu' or 'Taiwan-fu', which means 'capital city' - as well as making a trip to Koxinga Shrine dedicated to Koxinga who famously defeated the Dutch East India Company in 1661. Tainan's rich culture can easily be experienced at events like Lantern Festival and Mazu Pilgrimage Procession held every year to honour its patron goddess Mazu.
