Visit Arusha

Arusha is a city located in northern Tanzania, the gateway to the African Great Lakes region. It's situated below Mount Meru and has an elevation of 1,500 metres (4,900 feet). Arusha is a popular tourist destination due to its close proximity to some of Tanzania's most iconic national parks. Tourists flock here for safari tours and active wildlife sightings with animals like zebras, lions, gazelles and elephants living in their natural habitats.

Popular sights include Mererani Hills where you can find beautiful views of Arusha National Park or visit the Masai Market where you can purchase handmade souvenirs from the local Masai people. Climb Mt Meru - one of Africa's highest peaks - for stunning 360 degree views or visit Lake Manyara National Park to spot hippos, flamingos and even tree-climbing lions!

An interesting historical fact about Arusha is that it was once known as 'Kirangarema' which translates from Swahili as "the place behind Kiranga hill," which lies on the edge of town today. This hill was used in ancient times by the Maasai tribe as a lookout post for any approaching danger!
