Visit Geita

The Geita region of Tanzania is a region located in the northwest corner of the country, bordering both Rwanda and Burundi. It is known for its lush rolling hills, beautiful wildlife and diverse cultures. Agriculture plays an important role in the economy of Geita with coffee, tea and bananas being among some of the main crops grown here.

Tourists to Geita can explore the Kasamwa Waterfall or visit one of several hot springs found throughout the region; such as Simba Hot Spring, Gerezani Hot Spring, Lutaaya Hot Springs and Mugumu hot spring which features unique rock formations.

The history of Geita dates back to pre-colonial times when it was part of a large kingdom known as Ufipa. Later on during colonial rule control over this area passed from Germany to Britain before becoming part of present day Tanzania after independence in 1961.
