Visit Katavi


Katavi Region is located in Western Tanzania. It is one of the largest, most remote and least visited regions of Tanzania. Katavi has an abundance of wildlife such as elephants, zebras, wildebeest and hippos. It is situated in a remote corner of the country with few roads leading to it.

The main attractions include Katavi National Park which consists of open grassy plains that are home to large numbers of elephants, giraffes and wildebeest as well as Lake Chada which birdwatchers come for its diverse species including herons, storks and flamingoes.

A unique historical fact about Katavi region is that it houses one of the world's oldest human fossils; a Homo sapiens skull from around 200 - 300 AD was found here!
