Visit Katavi Region

The Katavi Region is a densely forested province in Tanzania. It is home to one of the country's largest and least-visited national parks, Katavi National Park, which contains an abundance of wildlife including lions, elephants, zebras and giraffes. The region also includes Mahale Mountains National Park where chimpanzees can be spotted by hikers. These two parks are ideal for safari-goers looking to catch a glimpse of some of Africa's most majestic animals in their natural habitat.

Katavi also has a rich cultural history dating back to the Stone Age with numerous archaeological sites found throughout the area. One such site is located at Ikuu Hill where stone tools have been discovered beside large piles of fossilized bones indicating that humans hunted game here thousands of years ago. Visitors can explore these ancient ruins and discover remnants from Tanzanian ancestry.

Apart from its exciting wildlife reserves and historical sites, visitors can take part in various activities such as bird watching, fishing or canoeing on Lake Tanganyika while admiring the stunning landscapes surrounding them. With its untouched jungles and unrivalled biodiversity, Katavi Region promises an unforgettable adventure for any traveler looking for an off-the-beaten track experience!
