Visit Kigoma Region

Kigoma is a region located in western Tanzania, bordered by Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the largest city in the region and serves as its capital. Kigoma has beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife to explore. The vast expanse of Lake Tanganyika is particularly interesting for visitors; boat tours are available for those wishing to traverse the waters. Other attractions in Kigoma include Ujiji Town, which was once an important trading hub on the east coast of Lake Tanganyika. The town also played a major role in 19th century exploration; Stanley famously met Livingstone here during his expedition across Africa. Finally, nearby Mahale Mountains National Park offers excellent opportunities for safari adventures; it's home to some 870 chimpanzees!
