Visit Lindi

Lindi is a region located in the Southeast corner of Tanzania. The region has warm coastal plain and forested hills that make up a beautiful landscape. It is known for its wild game parks, beaches and coral reefs.

The Kiru Game Reserve is one of the prime attractions in the region that offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Visitors can take part in various activities such as bird watching, game drives and guided walks to observe myriad species inhabiting this area. The Kigombe Beach lies along Lindi's northern coastline and is an ideal place for beach-goers to enjoy swimming, snorkeling or simply relaxing on the sandy beachfront.

History buffs will appreciate visiting Lindi as it was once an important trading port during the colonial period, visited by Arab traders who would gather together to exchange goods from areas across Africa and Asia. Furthermore, Lindi was an important site in World War II where Allied forces launched their invasion of German East Africa from here in 1916 before eventually capturing German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II at Mikindani near Mtwara port later that year.
