Visit Mbeya

Mbeya is one of Tanzania's 31 provinces, located in the southwest part of the country. It borders Zambia and Malawi to the south, Rukwa Region to the east, and Songwe Region to the north. Mbeya is known for its beautiful landscapes with rolling hills, lush valley floors and dramatic mountain peaks. In addition to its natural beauty, Mbeya has numerous historical sites worth visiting. Rungwe Queen's Palace is a popular attraction; it was constructed by late paramount chief Mkwawa in 1895 and still stands today as a reminder of his rule over this region over a century ago. For wildlife lovers, there are several game reserves in Mbeya such as Kalambo Falls National park where visitors can spot zebras, warthogs or even buffalo roaming around their natural habitat. The Nyika Backpackers Lodge offers camping grounds or self-catering cottages with breathtaking views from Lake Nyasa to Lake Rukwa and beyond - definitely worth a visit! Another interesting fact about Mbeya is that it was a major centre for uranium mining during World War II when it supplied much of the ore used for making nuclear weapons. Whether you are looking for adventure or culture (or both!), Mbeya has something to offer everyone!
