Visit Rukwa


Rukwa is a region in Tanzania located on the south-western part of the country. It borders Katavi region to the west, Iringa and Mbeya regions to the north, Rukwa River and Lake Tanganyika to the east, and Zambia to the south. The region is made up of a rugged terrain with mountains, hills and valleys that are home to numerous wildlife species such as elephants, buffalo, leopards and giraffes.

Additionally, Rukwa has rich historical roots dating back centuries ago when it was inhabited by different tribes including Ngoni people who were famously known for their bravery in resisting slave trade until they were defeated by Europeans in 1891 during invasions of East Africa.
