Visit Simiyu Region


Simiyu Region is a region in Tanzania, located in the north of the country. The area, which is approximately 8,631 square miles, offers some of the most scenic landscapes and experiences for travelers. It borders Lake Victoria to the east and has a total population of 1.6 million people, mainly from ethnic groups such as Sukuma and Bantu.

The Simiyu Region is known for its beautiful waterfalls and hot springs which make it an ideal destination for hikers looking to explore its uncharted outdoors. Notable places include Lake Babati and Kigosi Hot Springs where travelers can take part in activities like boating or bird watching. Nearby Maji Moto waterfall on the way to Usangi village is also a great place to spend time with family or friends enjoying nature's beauty.

Simiyu Region also has a rich history going back centuries. Before it became part of Tanzania it was originally known as Ukerewe Kingdom ruled by two dynasties - Gombero and Rulindo - until 1968 when it was annexed by Tanzania's government during President Julius Nyerere's reign .
