Visit Tabora

Tabora Region is located in northwestern Tanzania, bordering the Lake Victoria basin. It is inhabited by varied ethnic groups including Nyamwezi, Haya and Bena. Its capital city, Tabora, was once an important trading center for ivory and slaves from surrounding countries like Burundi and Congo. Today it remains an important part of Tanzanian culture and history.

Tabora Region has many beautiful sites to explore such as Ugala Waterfalls, a scenic 50-meter waterfall near the city of Urambo with a pool perfect for swimming - ideal for nature lovers looking to relax! The Ngorongoro Conservation Area located nearby contains some of Africa's most spectacular wildlife with lions, elephants and cheetahs amongst others. The area also offers stunning views of Mount Meru from its crater floor which is well worth seeing in person!

One interesting fact about this region's history is that it was once home to German East Africa during the late 19th century which lasted until World War I when the British took control over both Tabora Province and Tanganyika Territory as they were then known until 1964 when they unified into one country - Tanzania!
