Chiang Rai is a city in the Northern region of Thailand. It is known for its lush green hills and majestic rivers, making it a popular tourist destination. The Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) is one of the most iconic attractions in Chiang Rai - a modern Buddhist temple with intricate designs that reflect traditional Thai artistry. The city was founded by King Mengrai in 1262 as part of his efforts to establish the Lanna Kingdom - one of the longest-lasting and most prosperous kingdoms in Southeast Asian history.
