Vava`u is a region located in the country of Tonga, which boasts some of the most beautiful South Pacific islands. This stunning archipelago is comprised of over 40 islands, some with dramatic limestone cliffs and lush rainforests while others are low-lying coral atolls. The waters surrounding Vava`u offer an array of exciting activities for visitors such as sailing, snorkeling, kayaking and scuba diving. An interesting historical fact about Vava`u is that it was once known as one of the spiritual centres for Tongans because it was believed to be where their god Luvea lived when he made his journey across Polynesia from Samoa.
