Visit Sfax Governorate

The Sfax Governorate is located in the southeast of Tunisia and lies on the Mediterranean coast. It is a popular tourist destination due to its beautiful beaches, historic monuments, and vibrant culture. The city of Sfax has been an important trading port for centuries and it still maintains much of that charm today.

The archaeological site of Kerkouane features Phoenician ruins from between the 8th and 5th centuries BC and is a must-see for tourists who want to explore history. The nearby town of El Jem also contains some interesting Roman mosaics that can be viewed at its amphitheater - the third largest in all of Rome.

For those looking for an outdoor adventure, Sfax Governorate offers plenty to do, including bird watching, diving or fishing at Sakiet Eddayer or trekking through Djebel Zaghouan National Park - home to over 600 species of plants as well as Barbary macaques and golden jackals.

For those interested in learning more about this region's history, they should visit Sidi Mansour Mosque built during the Ottoman period or view some ancient stone inscriptions at Jebel Oust which date back 2000 years!
