Visit Cherkas’ka Oblast’


The Cherkas'ka Oblast' is a province located in southern Ukraine, bordering Kirovohrad Oblast in the north-west and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in the east. This region, with its capital at Cherkasy, has a population of nearly 1.4 million people and is known for its nature reserves and stunning natural landscapes.

When visiting this charming region visitors can explore tourist attractions such as Uman National Park with its beautiful lake and picturesque forests or visit the historic city of Kaniv where Taras Shevchenko was born. The nearby Kyiv Reservoir is also a great spot to relax by the beach or explore some of Ukraine's cultural heritage by visiting local museums such as the Museum of Folk Art which showcases traditional Ukrainian crafts and costumes.

An interesting fact about this region is that it was an important part of Ukrainian history during World War II when it was occupied by Nazi forces as part of Operation Barbarossa along with other territories in 1941. To commemorate those who fought against German occupation during this time there are several memorial sites located throughout the area including Myrhorod Memorial Complex which stands as a reminder to all those who lost their lives defending their homeland from foreign invaders.
