Visit Cherkasy Oblast

Cherkasy Oblast is a province of Ukraine located south of the capital city, Kiev. It is known for its rich cultural history and stunning natural scenery. The region's most popular tourist attractions include the ancient settlement of Kaniv on the Dnieper River, the nature reserve at Uman National Park, and the 70-meter high rock formations at Kamyana Mohyla Reserve.

This culturally diverse region also boasts some interesting historical facts. In 1239, during the Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus', Grand Prince Yaroslav II was killed in battle in Cherkasy Oblast. Later it served as an important center for trade between Europe and Russia from 1660 to 1706 as part of The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Today visitors come to explore its many outdoor activities, such as kayaking along rivers or hiking through forests and field lakes; museums like Cherkasy Museum of Local History; churches like Assumption Cathedral featuring unique frescoes; or forts such as those found in Chykalovets built by Cossack commanders between 1845-1905.
